Many of you had asked for my Teddy unit...it's in my store now...probably a little too late but I'm limited on time these days. Also, I added Halloween Common Core Math centers to my store too. I wish I had pictures to share some of the games. I think they will be really fun! And, my Halloween Literacy Centers will be ready today. I know...too late but they will be there for next year.
Anybody have suggestions or needs for November or December?

My favorite thing about Halloween is going to the pumpkin patch with my students and my family. I always love to see my students pick their pumpkins. They always want the biggest and heaviest pumpkin. This year, one of my 5 year old boys picked a huge pumpkin. He was so determined that he gently rolled it all the way to the register. He was so precious! He made a plan and executed it by clearing the dirt away with his hands so there weren't any pebbles in the way. I had to giggle!

My favorite thing about Halloween is taking my own kids to pick out their costumes. Their little eyes light up and they get so excited as we walk up and down the aisles and look at all of the different possibilities. Then usually they find something supercool, discover that the store is OUT of this one in their size, crying ensues and Mommy goes home to save the day by ordering it online from Target.com using FREE shipping with my Target Red Card... lol But everybody is happy in the end and that is all that really matters!!!

My favorite thing about Halloween is our Storybook Character Parade that we have at our school. Every year we host a storybook Character Parade in which each child gets to dress up like their favorite storybook character. We get to parade through every classroom in our costumes while carrying a copy of the book that our character is from. It is so fun to see what they come up with. In past years I have had David from "No, David!", Junie B. Jones, Harry Potter, Pinkalicious, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and The Grouchy Ladybug. During our parade, we visit our Media center where they video tape each child introducing themselves and what character they have dressed as. In my opinion, this is learning at it's best! I can't wait for Wednesday to see what my littles come up with this year.

ReplyDeleteMy favorite thing about Halloween is the carving of the pumpkin. I never did it as a little girl growing up. Since my parents worked extremely hours and had limited income, my family hardly ever celebrated the holidays. There were many things that my parents, my siblings, and I missed out during those hardship years, but I relish life more now and make every attempt to be present at the moment. This year my boyfriend Chris will do the honor by carving out the jack-o-lantern. I can hardly wait. Happy Halloween!!!
