Out of the Loop

I just got back from a wonderful 4 day getaway with my hubby and baby girls!  We had tons of fun, but had NO internet service!  My sweet hubby said, "you'll survive", but I almost didn't make it....hehe!  So, hence my blog title...I feel out of the loop.  My mini-vacation was great, but now it's back to the real world...where is all of our Christmas "stuff" gonna go?  Hmmmm...

I have had several e-mails asking about my new snowman unit...it's almost done....this time I really mean it...I hope to have it posted tomorrow or Sunday.  I hope some of you are still holding out for it...I know there are many more great ones out there too!  I promise it will be worth it!

I've also had lots of questions about which units I will be doing next...so be looking for mittens, penguins, and January intervention *hopefully*!

I'm thinking SALE in my tpt shop until sometime tomorrow...before I head to our New Year's Eve party...visit my store here.

Last, thanks so much for visiting my blog, reading my posts, for all your sweet comments (I read them all, just aren't enough hours in the day to respond to them all), for all the kind and encouraging e-mails I get daily, and for visiting and supporting my TPT store!!

I'll send my Snowman Unit (when it's done) to the first 3 people that comment with the word "Frosty" in their comment somewhere!

Happy New Year to everyone!

More Christmas Fun!

For any of you out there that have school next week...Bless. Your. Heart!  Oh my goodnes...I LOVE my kiddos, but I think we all need a break!  I can't wait to spend some quality time with my family.  Here is some of the fun we had this week learning and playing.

This was so much fun!  They loved it...it's in Deanna's and my Winter Pack

We are just starting to practice recording tally marks in centers and they did pretty good with it!

Up on the Housetop...this is always a fun and different twist on counting/adding more and they loved it!

Practicing Fractions...

I found these cute little Santa buckets at Dollar Tree last year.  This game can be found in my Christmas Unit...

I got this fun game from Mrs. Estes last year...I had these cool sticker pages with just the right things needed to shop for Santa's suit...it worked perfectly.  (This is not in the unit b/c it wasn't mine...)

This is how I "store" my reindeer chow...it's a large grocery bag folded down...inside is, goldfish, marshmallows, pretzel sticks, honeycomb cereal b/c I forgot to get Chex, and M&M's.

This Reindeer Chow activity can be found in my Christmas Unit: Deck the Halls

My Snowman Unit is *almost* finished!!  Coming up will be January Intervention and Small Groups, Mittens & Penguins
Keep Checking!
Merry CHRISTmas everyone!

Christmas Fun

Whew!  What a busy, week!  I can only imagine next week, but hey... Santa's almost here...what should we expect?!  We did a lot of fun things this week...a lot of assessing...and more next week too!  Let's skip assessment and get right to the FUN stuff!

Both of these games are in the Winter Games for Math and Literacy from Deanna Jump and myself...

Manipulating letters to build sight words...

Now that we are segmenting sounds in words, syllables was a little confusing...so we are practicing

These 3 plus 18 other math and literacy centers are included in my new Deck the Halls Christmas unit...

I've had the reindeer fact book from Mailbox in my folder for years and finally got around to making it the way I wanted to and actually doing it...turned out so cute!  I used the same words as that one, just changed the cover a bit...

If you like it, grab the freebie below!  :)

Look at my goodies...reindeer buckets came from Target dollar section...they may have them this year; Santa bag in the middle came from Target dollar section this year...I have objects from the Lakeshore sound tubs in it for a game; Santa buckets...Dollar Tree last year...they may have them again, not sure.
These are in our station next week so check back for pictures.
I love games that incorporate fine motor practice...we so need it!  :)  PLUS, it's fun!

These symmetrical ornaments make our classroom look adorable!  Since school is our home away from home, it has to look "a lot like Christmas" there too!

I saw this on a website a few years ago...littlegiraffes.com
I give all the strips to my little friends and they must put them in order from shortest to tallest before gluing them on their paper.  I check each one first.  Such great math skill practice but in a fun way!  Last, we add snow with white paint and a q-tip.

Our TLC Santa's make our door look darling!

Our class Christmas tree...love all the "kid ornaments"...

we played a rhyming rudolph color word game...LOTS of times because they kept begging to...

Enjoy your freebie below...if you snatch it up, let me know what you think.

Gingerbread Week & Our Five Senses

This week we learned about our five senses and had tons of fun reading "the gingerbread stories"...and comparing them.  The Gingerbread Man is one of my faves!  I didn't snap a lot of pics this week, but here are a few of the fun things we did!  The My Five Senses sheet below, Peppermint Patterns, and Flippin' for Sounds games can be found in my new Gingerbread Fun unit on tpt.  The Tastes of our Tongue isn't in there, but I'll try to get it on as a freebie soon...it was a last minute thing.

Drew pictures our five senses and wrote them

Had a taste test...
 sweet
sour
 sour
 bitter
For fun, each day we used our sense of smell to decide which scent we would burn in our classroom...
We moved our names on the Promethean board to the one we liked best...
Lemon never won...what's wrong with lemon?  I like lemon?
We flipped Christmas cookies and listened for the beginning sound of the picture on the back
 Still practicing patterns...
Our cute little Gingerbread Five Senses anchor chart
One version of our gingerbread glyphs from Kim Jordano
We made fraction cookies, labeled them, and of course...added glitter!
Our Five Senses gingerbread man...isn't he cute?

Catch the Gingerbread Man

Catch the Gingerbread Man is played the same way as Catch the Turkey from last week's post...

And, my  December Small Groups and Intervention pack is available at my tpt store now...check it out!
