This has to be one of the funnest weeks of our entire year! I just love it! If you have never done this with your kiddos you have to try it! It is seriously so much fun!
After reading as many versions of The Gingerbread Man that we could, Friday we made our own gingerbread cookie hoping he would NOT run away. Here's our cookie pre oven.
We are on our way to bake our cookie...
After a few minutes, we went back to get him and, to our surprise…he DID run away!
Of course, we had to hurry and try to catch him...
We looked everywhere! No luck! But, during p.e., I got a call from the principal and she caught him running in the halls and had to sit him in time-out for a few minutes.
I went and got him out…and of course, we enjoyed him for snack!
Here's just a few of our gingerbread centers this week.
The weekly pocket chart story
An all time favorite…flipping cookies for ending sounds
Literacy and Math integrated center
And, building sight words on gingerbread houses.
These can be found in my Gingerbread Fun Unit HERE along with lots of other fun center games.
Also, check out THIS post for more gingerbread ideas from last year!
We made Runaway Gingerbread Cookies! I love the way these turned out and they look so cute hanging in our hallway!
You can find this Craft plus MORE HERE
We've also been learning about verbs so we made these cute little gingerbread friends and used verbs in our writing.
We made these adorable little Santa's from The Glyph Girls.
You can find him HERE.
I sent home a letter to Santa and the students returned them with their wishes!
And, a FREEbie for ya!
I was so tired of giving my students stickers to find them stuck to our floor so I made this and my kiddos were SO excited to begin their little collection! You can find it HERE if you need it!
If you're still reading this THANK YOU & comment below for a chance to win my Runaway Gingerbread Craft Pack. I'll give it away to someone within the next 24 hours. :) Don't forget to leave your e-mail.

ReplyDeleteThis is my favorite unit in the world. I love it more than the kids do... if possible. Grab my recipe for gingerbread play dough if you want to. My students love this and it is a great way to let them smell all the delicious spices of gingerbread. We actually decorate our own cookies using baggies filled with different colored frostings . I just snip one corner and show them how to squeeze it out. I know I'm crazy but they LOVE this so much!
