Seriously?

I absolutely LOVE reading all the comments on my blog...and I read each and every one.  Sunday night, as I was scrolling through I saw a really mean comment.  I know this has happened to others in the blogging world.  I'm really not sure why people choose to be negative towards others.  I would hate to know that I spent my life that God gives me to be mean to people.  The comment that was left was under my Native American Pow Wow post.  Anonymous (A.) suggested that I had offended her because my students were wearing headbands with feathers and vests.  A. isn't Native American as she stated in the comment.  I guess she overlooked the fact that REAL Native Americans were present at our Pow Wow.  I'm not sure if A. is aware of the course of study standards to be covered, but it's all in it...she should check it out at http://alex.state.al.us/browseStand.php.  If A. is  a teacher, I would hate to think that her students aren't learning what it was like for people to live long ago and how they managed survival.  Anonymous also stated that I did not have "good teaching" and that I "should be ashamed of myself".  I teach my students about respect, kindness, and manners.  Maybe A. should join my students to learn a lesson or two.

To A.:  Don't you have anything better to do than to search for things you don't like and to be negative?

To everyone else who supports me...THANK YOU!

  10. Just remember that there are others out there who choose to seek out blogs in order to post negative things. They seek "joy" in trying to rob others of theirs. Just remember all the good you have done---ignore the "C" and focus on all the "A+'s". You have changed my teaching for the better, and through me, effected the lives of my students. You know that is TRUTH. Be encouraged, my blogger friend!

  15. It's hard to believe that there are people out there that are so mean. But do you know what A just did, not only for you but for all of us hard working dedicated educators? Made us just that much better! My son calls people like A "haters". Haters are people that are negative and cruel toward someone because they are successful.

Continue doing what you do, because you are wonderful and YOU make a difference! Hugs to you!!!

Remember we teach and we blog because we want to help others. I look forward to many more post, thank you for all that you do.

  28. Julie... I am so sorry that someone left you such a comment. As a mom of two former students, I have to say that you are the best teacher my children have ever had! You have NOTHING to be ashamed of! You are not only a wonderful teacher, but a shining example of the way Christ wants us to be. I have no idea of why a person would be offended by your pictures. The day of the Pow Wow, the Native Americans were dressed in full attire including the vests and headbands with multiple feathers!!!

    I will miss you dearly!

  29. Julie,
People can be so mean! Don't take it to heart, especially since you have such a kind, generous heart! Your giving spirit is amazing. You've been an inspiration and we've appreciated how wonderful you've been to share your work freely with other teachers. Your hard work shows what a great teacher you are, and your students are lucky to have you. Mean people are sadly uninformed, and lash out in ignorance.

  31. SOunds like the same "Meany" that wrote on Deanna Jumps site...Isn't it odd that we let one comment upset us so much..I think it is because you are trying to make the teaching world a better place and it seems inconceivable that anyone would try to knock that down...thank goodness teachers as a whole have such good hearts! I am sorry this has caused you heartache.

  34. I just found your blog through Spotlight on Kindergarten's blog list. My students dress up with feathers in their headbands, vests, medicine bags & pasta pattern necklaces and it is one of their absolute favorite units of the year. I can't say not to worry about what the person said, because I wear my heart on my sleeve and it would upset me. However, try to look past the negative comments and focus on all the great things you are doing and the fact that you take the time to share with others. Keep up the good work!

    Blessings,

  35. I have never met you and probably never will in person, but you are a teacher after my own heart. I have gotten such inspiration from you and the ideas and creations you have shared. I have been teaching for 18 years and continue to learn every day b/c of people like you who LOVE your job and care enough to share with all of "us". Forget about the negative comment (as hard as we all know that is to do), and KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

  36. I have also been a victim of A! She had some interesting comments to me about my Cinco de Mayo celebration. I worried about it for a minute and then realized I have only had one rude comment in my blog history and she clearly did not understand the standards that we teach. And when I posted her comment so many teachers came to my defense! And Kinder Glenn sent me a free Cinco de Mayo unit of study! I guess A spends her time searching for the negative in a blog world that is filled with nothing more than teachers trying to help each other and clearly that kind of attitude is just not welcome! Keep on doing what you are doing because you make a difference!
