Freebie! & Animals in Winter Literacy Stations

Happy Friday Friends!  What a week!  We had our DIBELS testing this week and our hard work really paid off!  I'm so proud of my little kinder-kiddos...they did oh so good!  In the meantime, we did finished our Animals in Winter Unit.  I love hearing my kids say words like "dormant".  Isn't it fun?!  I'm always curious if they use those words at home and their parents look at them like, "What?"  I know when my little girl was 3 years old and said pointing at the moon, "Look it's a crescent!"...I was floored!  Whoa!  They just pick up on everything.  So, I'll quit rambling...take a peek at what we did to practice our literacy skills...go all the way to the bottom for the link to the SWEATER and JEAN MATH FREEBIE.

Christmas Fun

Whew!  What a busy, week!  I can only imagine next week, but hey... Santa's almost here...what should we expect?!  We did a lot of fun things this week...a lot of assessing...and more next week too!  Let's skip assessment and get right to the FUN stuff!

Both of these games are in the Winter Games for Math and Literacy from Deanna Jump and myself...

Manipulating letters to build sight words...

Now that we are segmenting sounds in words, syllables was a little confusing...so we are practicing

These 3 plus 18 other math and literacy centers are included in my new Deck the Halls Christmas unit...

I've had the reindeer fact book from Mailbox in my folder for years and finally got around to making it the way I wanted to and actually doing it...turned out so cute!  I used the same words as that one, just changed the cover a bit...

If you like it, grab the freebie below!  :)

Look at my goodies...reindeer buckets came from Target dollar section...they may have them this year; Santa bag in the middle came from Target dollar section this year...I have objects from the Lakeshore sound tubs in it for a game; Santa buckets...Dollar Tree last year...they may have them again, not sure.
These are in our station next week so check back for pictures.
I love games that incorporate fine motor practice...we so need it!  :)  PLUS, it's fun!

These symmetrical ornaments make our classroom look adorable!  Since school is our home away from home, it has to look "a lot like Christmas" there too!

I saw this on a website a few years ago...littlegiraffes.com
I give all the strips to my little friends and they must put them in order from shortest to tallest before gluing them on their paper.  I check each one first.  Such great math skill practice but in a fun way!  Last, we add snow with white paint and a q-tip.

Our TLC Santa's make our door look darling!

Our class Christmas tree...love all the "kid ornaments"...

we played a rhyming rudolph color word game...LOTS of times because they kept begging to...

Enjoy your freebie below...if you snatch it up, let me know what you think.

Space centers & a Pumpkin FREEBIE?

Okay, these are WAY overdue, but I wanted to post what was happenin' during our space week...this was before I got sick and never got around to posting it.

We love our sound tubs from Lakeshore and use them all the time...do you have these?
They are the best for center games.

I used my DJ version since it was made, but a new version is in my unit

This too, is DJ, but a version of this is in the unit.

Both of these are highly requested so legal versions (non DJ Inkers) are included in my space unit.

Alright, so I had a request for the "Simple Symmetry" game posted back during my pumpkin week in the fall...it is ready now in my tpt store for FREE...Go grab it and get it ready for next year!
There's also another Long Vowel FREEbie too!

For some reason I don't have a picture of my pocket chart story called SHOO FLY!, but it's so cute and the kids love it.  It's in my store along with a take-home reader and retelling props too.

FINALLY, my twin sister has opened up a TPT Store...she's just getting started and has a couple of freebies already ready.  She's working on some great readers too!  IF you will go follow her store...leave me a comment and I'll give away to a random follower of her store my dino unit and my space unit.  This "On a Whim Giveaway" ends tomorrow around this time (6:00ish)!  Go now!

If you read all the way down to here...Thank You!  And, good luck with the giveaway!

A Funny and A Freebie

Hello Friends and Happy Wednesday!
I have to share a "funny" with you all.  My student teacher, Mrs. Wood, is sitting at the rug with our kids and I think one of the kids asks what time it is or something, and she says, "Time for Literacy."  Without hesitation of our little ones screams "Hey, I know what that is", (in the most country voice you will ever hear from a 5 year old)..."that's when somebody throws garbage on the ground and doesn't pick it up!"

Her reply?  "Yes, a "LITTERER" is someone who throws down trash without picking it up".

OMGosh!!  Soooooooo funny those little ones!  How can you NOT love kindergarten?!?

I am throwing in a FREEBIE for all of you who do a "Teddy" unit with your kiddos.

P.S.  Let me know if you snag it...makes my heart smile!

Coming up...MONSTERS

More Frosty Fun!

Another busy week is Mrs. Lee's room, but fun and learning is all over the place.  My little kiddos are really starting to read...I'm so proud!  I LOVE it when they sound out a word, read it, and look at me like, "Did you hear me just do that?"  Love it! We finished up our unit on snowmen and wintry weather...we read Snow Dance by Lezlie Evans and danced a little jig hoping we could bring *a few* snow flurries our way...I think I saw ONE on my way home and that's it.  It doesn't snow much here.  Check out a few more of our fun centers this week!  Most of them are in my Frosty Fun Unit Here...check it out!

The clothesline is always a hit amongst the little ones...plus it throws in great fine motor along with math and literacy...this is NOT in my unit, but I'm hoping to post it as a freebie soon as I find the "pants" that go with the sweater...

Middle Sounds practice
