Well, I don't know about you, but I cannot go the first week of school without reading these books! The kids absolutely LOVE them! And, they are the perfect books to introduce talking about classroom rules and how to be a peacemaker instead of a peacebreaker.
You can read more about that HERE.
I made some really simple, really cute (I think) rule posters that my students and I can refer to daily.
You can find these FREE HERE. I would love for you to rate them if you download them ;)!
Every year we make this Peacemaker/Peacebreaker Chart. This hangs in our room all year so we can refer to it whenever we need to. We did this on day 2. You can find this activity with all the pieces HERE.
We practiced using our glue on the first day! I have this little page of dots that we practice on then when finished, I sprinkle on a little surprise (glitter).
This is my Delaney's paper ;) I think she got a little carried away there at the top. :)
You can find this activity HERE.
We also make these little "Davids"! Each piece is pre-cut using our die-cut machine or paper cutter. This is simply a story connector activity and gluing activity. This is actually a great assessment tool for me to see who can follow directions, use glue properly, and put the pieces in the correct places. Plus, they look adorable hanging outside the room.
I made this chart from Deanna's All Set You Bet unit. I love having it right there for me to read to my students and the pictures are great visuals for my EL's.
This display is outside our classroom door where their first day of Kindergarten coloring page is hanging.
We read The Kissing Hand and made these cutie-patootie Chesters. Again, this is simple shapes...no cutting, just gluing and following directions. These hang for the first couple weeks to remind us that our parent's love is always with us. :)
Yay for you if you're still reading this.
Here's a few sneak peaks of what will be happening next week!
I'm introducing scissors on Monday!
I have our Brown Bear Texture Book ready to go.
Here's a few Brown Bear Centers going in our baskets.
I'm introducing cubes and bingo dotters...AND markers. Heaven help me!
Kindergarten just wouldn't be Kindergarten without puzzles...
and play-doh.
And, our color days begin...starting with Brown as I introduce our Brown Bear Unit on Colors.
Hope your weekend is fabulous!
It's lots of laundry and a bunch of nothing for me!
Everything you do is awesome!!! Do you have the first day coloring sheet and a raccoon template for sale?
ReplyDeleteHi Alyson! The raccoon is from my Kissing Hand pack. :) I don't have the first day coloring sheet anywhere. Sorry! Maybe I could make one soon!

ReplyDeleteI was also wondering if your first day of school colouring sheet could be purchased. I have your School's in Session package from TPT & looked through it to see if the colouring sheet was included in it but didn't see it.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a first day sheet, but maybe I could make one soon. :)
